They were midnights,
I hopped into the cab,
Fleeing the post-party solitude.
A comet fleetingly visited,
Returning to its void.
I slipped into reverie,
Voice echoes,
Touches remain,
Scent lingers ghostly.
Gravity, the gentlest tug in the universe,
Draws all towards you.
And you, no exception,
Also pulled by other celestial bodies.
Time flows,
Space shifts,
Our coordinates inevitably alter.
Now I’m free,
A mere speck of dust in the vast expanse,
drifting to nowhere,
For I no longer bathe in your glow,
The comet tail fades,
Finding solace in rest.
I finally see things as they are,
In the embrace of vacuum,
Alone, exiled within the Dirac sea.
Yet why do tears blur my vision?
With half-closed eyes,
I glimpse myself plying amongst the stars.
